Jersey Shore University Medical Center will hold its annual Community Day and 5K Run/Walk on Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will be held at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, located at 1945 Route 33, in Neptune.
The day will kick off with a timed 5K Run/Walk starting at Jersey Shore and continuing through Neptune. Prizes will be provided for age group winners, the overall male and female winner, and the fastest Meridian team. Registration and check-in for the 5k run/walk will begin at 8:30 a.m., and will be located at the main entrance to the hospital. Registration is $25. The first 200 registrants will receive a long-sleeved t-shirt. Proceeds will be donated to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital.

Additionally, there will be free Kids Races for children between the ages of 3 and 12 starting at 11 a.m. Registration can be obtained on the day of the event and all participants will receive medals. Following the races there will be an awards ceremony, along with games, an inflatable play area, tattoos, trackless train rides, food by Branches Catering, music and more. Doctor Bernard and Hopscotch will also be making special appearances throughout the day. Health information and free screenings will be available including blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol, stroke, and bone density.
