First Place Wins for Marlboro Memorial Middle School Jazz Band, Choir and Orchestra

Seventh grader Jared Goldberg and eighth grader Sunny Liang were standouts.

Marlboro, NJ - Students from Marlboro Memorial Middle School performed at the Music in the Parks Festival in Hershey, PA on Friday, May 13, winning blue-ribbon recognition.

Marlboro's Sovereign Swing and the Monarch Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Matt Goley, received ratings of excellent and placed first in their respective categories. In addition, seventh grader Jared Goldberg received the best soloist award for his steel drum solo.

“I’m so impressed with how our students performed, as well as the level of decorum they displayed throughout the weekend. They represented our school and the community very well," said middle school principal John Pacifico.

The middle school's Griffin Orchestra, under the direction of Chelsey Dinger, received a rating of superior and also placed first in its category.

The Royalaires and Lion Heart, under the direction of Laura Winslow, both received ratings of superior and first place in their respective categories. Eighth grader Sunny Liang received the award for best accompanist.

Sovereign Swing, LionHeart, and the Griffins were also each awarded Best Overall Jazz Band, Choir and Orchestra in the Middle School/Junior High Division.
