What drove you to seek public office?
I'm running because I believe a school board's first job is to put students and their education ahead of everything else.
I've seen what that focus can accomplish during my time on the Colts Neck Board of Education, and I want to bring it to the Freehold Regional High School District, where our children continue their education.
Having grown up in Marlboro and graduated from Marlboro High School, I know these schools and this community, and I want every student who walks through their doors to have the same opportunities I did.
What sets you apart from the other candidates?
What sets me apart is that I've already done this work. On the Colts Neck board, I've helped hold the line on taxes for three straight years while still expanding what our schools offer students.
My experience running multiple businesses taught me how to manage a budget and ask the right questions, and being a mother of two keeps me focused on how every decision affects kids and families.
What past accomplishments or experiences make you qualified?
During my time on the Colts Neck Board of Education, we delivered three consecutive years with no school tax increase while adding to the education our students receive.
We expanded Holocaust education, introduced the Tunnel to Towers curriculum, brought back the 8th-grade trip to Washington, D.C., and kept board meetings live-streamed so parents could stay informed.
The Holocaust education work means a great deal to me. My grandfather survived the Holocaust, and I'm a member of 3G, a group of survivors' grandchildren who keep their stories alive. Growing up with his experience taught me where hate leads when no one stands up to it.
That's why I don't tolerate hate of any kind, and why I believe teaching this history helps every student feel safe and respected in school.
If elected, what will be your top priorities?
My top priority will always be students and the quality of their education, and every other decision should support that goal.
That means spending taxpayer money responsibly so resources go where they matter most, keeping parents informed and involved, and making sure every student feels safe and included, with no room for hate of any kind.
Name one thing about Colts Neck that always makes you smile.
What always makes me smile is how this community comes together. Whether it's a school event, a youth game, or running into neighbors in town, people in Colts Neck show up for each other and especially for our kids.
Having grown up right next door in Marlboro, raising my own family here still feels like coming home.
