Freehold Regional's Sampson Appointed To Common Core Review Panel
The state committee will be looking at how Common Core aligns with New Jersey's own school standards.

When the state Department of Education begins its review of Common Core and how aligns with what New Jersey wants for its students, the Freehold Regional High School District will have a role in that review.
District Superintendent Charles Sampson was recently appointed to the New Jersey Department of Education’s Common Core Standards Review Committee, according to a news release from the district.
The review committee was formed following Gov. Chris Christie’s call to rethink the Common Core state standards for New Jersey.

“The Standards Review Committee will review the New Jersey Core Curriculum content standards in English language arts and mathematics to raise standards and ensure they are New Jersey based. This committee will monitor progress, ensure alignment across grade levels and subjects, and make final recommendations to the New Jersey State Board of Education,” the release said.
According to documents on the state Department of Education website, the goal is to ensure the standards are high enough and ”reflect the educational needs and goals of our communities.”
