House Fire Closes Rt. 79 In Marlboro Saturday Morning
A major stretch of Rt. 79 was closed in Marlboro Twp. Saturday morning due to a fire that broke out at a home near Church Lane.

MARLBORO, NJ — A major stretch of Rt. 79 was closed in Marlboro Township Saturday morning due to a fire that broke out at an unoccupied home on Rt. 79 near Church Lane.
At 10:35 a.m. this morning, Marlboro Twp. police received calls in reference to smoke coming from a residence in the area of State Route 79 and Church Lane in Morganville. When police got there, they found a single-family residence located at 466 Rt. 79, unoccupied at the time, was on fire.
The Morganville Independent and the Morganville volunteer fire departments responded and
extinguished the fire. Rt. 79 was closed to traffic between Tennent Road and Harbor Road from 10:30 a.m. until noon.

The fire is being investigated by the Marlboro Township Fire Prevention Bureau and Ptlm. Collin Murray and Det. Edward Ungrady of the Marlboro Township Police Department. There were no injuries and the fire is considered not to be suspicious in nature.
