A bus carrying 13 campers headed to Ivy League Day Camp was in a crash this morning that shut down Rt. 79 in Marlboro for nearly an hour.

MARLBORO, NJ — No children were injured, but a bus carrying 13 campers headed to Ivy League Day Camp was involved in a motor vehicle accident Wednesday morning in Marlboro Township. However, one of the drivers and a counselor on the bus were both injured in the crash, Lt. Bryan O'Hare of the Marlboro police department told Patch.

The accident occurred at 8:41 a.m. today at the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Rt. 79. The crash shut down Rt. 79, a major thoroughfare, for about 45 minutes, at the height of the morning rush hour. Rt. 79 re-opened at about 9:30 a.m.

The crash happened when a Honda Accord collided with the small yellow school bus taking the campers to Ivy League summer camp, a well-known day camp located in Manalapan. The 13 children on the bus were not injured, and neither was the driver, but the driver of the Honda and a counselor on the bus did receive injuries that were not life-threatening. They were taken to CentraState to be evaluated.
