Jon Stewart Buys $4M Colts Neck Farm

This is the second New Jersey farm the Stewarts have purchased, the first being Bufflehead Farm in Middletown.

COLTS NECK, NJ — Former "Daily Show" Host Jon Stewart and his wife, Tracey, have purchased a $4 million Colts Neck farm, the Asbury Park Press reports.

The Stewarts have submitted zoning proposals to turn the farm into a sanctuary that houses rescued animals and an education center to teach children about farm animals.

Monmouth County Agricultural Development Board approved a commercial farm certification in May, and the sanctuary is expected to open in 2017.

The couple already own another farm sanctuary: Bufflehead Farms in nearby Middletown.

Since Jon Stewart's retirement from the "Daily Show," the Stewarts have been working with Farm Sanctuary, a rescue organization, to advocate for animals. Tracey Stewart is active in animal advocacy, having written a book called "Do Unto Animals: A Friendly Guide to How Animals Live, and How We Can Make Their Lives Better."
