Juvenile, 2 Adults Arrested For Attempted Burglary In Marlboro

Police say a Marlboro Township homeowner helped them track down several suspects who tried to steal things from the homeowner's car.

MARLBORO TWP., NJ — Police say a Marlboro Township homeowner helped them track down several suspects who tried to steal things from the homeowner's car.

The homeowner called police around 2:30 a.m. on January 27 and said two men were trying to get into his vehicle. As the doors were locked, the men could not get in.

The man told police the two suspects left his property, got into a black SUV, and left the area. He was able to give police a direction the SUV was going.

A Marlboro Township Police officer saw the SUV in a nearby development and arrested three people after an investigation.

Omar Hairston, 49 and Jaquan Anderson, 21, of Newark, and a 17-year-old were arrested.

Hairston and Anderson were charged with attempted burglary, police said. The juvenile "was released to the custody of his father pending a juvenile complaint."

In a news release, police thanked the homeowner "for his quick action in dialing 911 and providing an accurate description of the both the suspects and vehicle."

"Chief Peter Pezzullo would also like to remind everyone to keep their vehicles locked, remove key fobs and other valuables including garage door openers from the vehicles and whenever possible, keep cars housed in the garage," police said.
