Kathleen Casner Cain, 58, of Marlboro, passed away with her family at her side on Sunday, Dec. 11, at St. Barnabas Hospice in Long Branch. She was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer, in March of 2011.
Growing-up in Avon-by-the-Sea, Kathy had an idyllic childhood that comes with living in a beach town. She attended Avon Grammar School, St. Rose High School, and received certification as a medical x-ray technician from the Johns Hopkins School of Radiology. She worked several years at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank before taking time off to raise her family.
Bill and Kathy lived for eight years in Folsom, CA, before moving to Marlboro in 1993. For the past 18 years she has worked as a receptionist for Weight Watchers at the Freehold and Aberdeen centers. Kathy enjoyed summer concerts at the various shore venues, walking the Avon boardwalk on summer evenings where she was always sure to bump into friends, and traveling with her husband and closest friends.
