Looked at the Cable bill lately?

Shock of shock! Not really.

I just opened by Optimum cable bill and was puzzled by what I saw.

A surcharge for $4.98 - “Sports Programming” - I had to laugh because I don’t have ANY SPORTS CHANNELS  ON MY CABLE!

So I did what anybody would do - I called the cable company. What a joke.

After waiting on hold for about 15 minutes, I actually got to speak to a polite young lady who told me the following”

“Oh yes, this is a new charge to cover the increased cost of sport programming. Up until now we have absorbed the cost but our costs have increased.” I explained that I do not have any sports channels and she agreed but said “we are charging everyone who has any package above basic cable.”

I was agast! I said “You mean you are charging me for something I do not use or even have access to ?”

The answer was YES!
