Man Saved from Marlboro Township Fire

Heavy smoke and flames trapped him in his bathroom Thursday morning on Station Road. Police officers had to pull him out a window.

Marlboro, NJ - A man was rescued from his burning home Thursday morning in Marlboro Township when police officers pulled him out of his bathroom window.

The fire broke out at a home at 68 Station Road in the Morganville section of the township at 1:57 a.m. Thursday, April 21. Someone driving by called 911 to report that the home was on fire. Watch a Marlboro township squad car pull up to the scene of the fire, above.

The first responding police officers reported that there was a heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the residence. The police checked the outside of the home and that's when they found the homeowner trapped in a downstairs bathroom. He couldn't get out because the smoke and flames were so thick, police said.

The three officers were able to rescue the man by pulling him through the bathroom window to safety. The homeowner was transported to Centra State Medical Center for observation and treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The three responding police officers were Corporal Thomas Rose, Ptlm. Kevin Cain and Ptlm. Daniel Gould.

The responding Fire Departments and First Aid Squads to the fire were the Morganville Volunteer Fire Department, The Morganville Independent Fire Department, the Robertsville Fire Department, the Marlboro Fire Department and the Morganville First Aid Squad.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
