Man Who Died In Marlboro Bicycle Accident Identified

Police said Saturday that no motor vehicles were involved, and it appears Kazi Farooqui, of Morganville, lost control of the bike.

MARLBORO TOWNSHIP, NJ — On Monday morning, Marlboro Twp. police released the identity of the man who died in a bike accident on Pleasant Valley Road over the weekend.

Kazi A. Farooqui, 57, of Gallya Grove in the Morganville section of Marlboro was identified as the bicyclist who died.

On Saturday, June 15 at 7:12 p.m. Marlboro police received a report of an injured bicyclist on Pleasant Valley Road in the area of Conover Road. Upon arrival, police discovered that a bicyclist, later identified as Farooqui, was found unconscious suffering from serious trauma-related injuries.

"No cars were involved; it appears the bicyclist lost control of the bicycle for an unknown reason," said Marlboro Police Capt. Fred Reck.

Farooqui was transported to Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel Township by Marlboro First Aid Squad where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving.

Police said Saturday the initial investigation indicates that no motor vehicles were involved in the accident and it appears that Farooqui lost control of the bike.
