ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ — A Marlboro Township man was arrested and charged last week after he tried to steal alcohol from an Atlantic Highlands liquor store, police say. The alleged theft happened last Thursday at Scenic Wine Bar & Liquors, a very small, mostly-locals liquor store at Garfield and 1st Avenue in Atlantic Highlands.
Jeffrey Maiorino, 37, removed one bottle of Fireball whiskey from the shelf and left the store without paying, police said. Police were called and Maiorino ran from the officers, and resisted arrest. He also allegedly threatened one of the arresting officers, saying "When I get out, I'm going to come for you, I'm going to put you in the ground," according to the criminal complaint.
He was charged with theft, resisting arrest and other charges.
