Marlboro Middle School Students Celebrate Graduation

Some 388 students graduated from the middle school.

The Brookdale Community College Robert Collins Arena filled with a sea of blue Friday as Marlboro Middle School students, 388 in total, marched down the main aisle took their last steps as middle school students.

The 2013 class took the spotlight offering musical talent and words of wisdom to fellow students, faculty, members of the board of education and family gathered.

Student Academic leaders Alyssa Lee and Sarah Vicol encouraged students to reflect on their past three years in middle school and look toward their next four as high school students during their commencement speeches.

Student chorale and band commemorated the ceremony playing John Lennon’s Imagine and dedicating Green Day’s “Time of Your life” to retiring faculty including Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Abbott.

“I intend to have the time of my life but for the past 16 years I’ve been having the time of my life,” Abbott said.

To conclude the ceremony, Student Council President Emma Marcus and Vice President Roy Kim lead the students as they moved their tassels signifying their graduate status.
