Marlboro Moves Forward With Turf Field Plans

The soccer association hopes to host its summer tournament on a finished field.

The Marlboro voted to move forward at its last meeting with its .

The township appropriated $380,000 from capital surplus funds and awarded a bid for the field, which will actually cost around $886,000. The township has received grants in tops of donations being collected by the Marlboro Soccer Association.

The capital surplus, according to Councilman Frank LaRocca, comes from canceled capital projects from years past and is not built into the current tax levy.

The amount of donations collected is not set in stone, but the association pledged $150,000 according to Business Administrator Jon Capp.

The township is also re-applying for a grant through the United States Soccer Association for $200,000.

Currently, Marlboro has one football turf field. The soccer field will be built on the complex behind Marlboro .

The bid was awarded to Precise Construction Inc. The field will be completed by August 20, weather permitting.
