Marlboro Schools Get Three New Administrators

The district filled three open spots for principals and a curriculum supervisor.

Two Marlboro schools will have new principals during the next school year, as current Vice Principal Nicholas Camera steps up at and Renee Whelan join the district as Principal of the .

Michael Ballone was named as curriculum supervisor of language arts literacy, basic skills literacy, gifted programs, and character education, effective July 1, 2012. 

Camera replaces Dr. Sandra Nelson Morris, who passed away earlier this year. Camera has been the Vice Principal of Defino since 2003. He has taught in Marlboro and Bradley Beach, after graduating from the University of Scranton.

Whelan will take over for retiring Principal Kathryn Arabia, effective Aug. 1 of this year. Whelan worked for the New Jersey State Department of Education as an education program development specialist since 2004. She has also worked as a preschool teacher and a curriculum facilitator in Long Branch. Whelan is a graduate of William Patterson University.

Ballone replaces Beverly Wilpon as curriculum supervisor. Ballone has been a language arts teacher at since 2004 and graduated from The College of New Jersey. Prior to his employment in Marlboro, Ballone worked as an assistant vice president at Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner, & Smith, Inc. in New York.
