Marlboro Soccer Tournament Is Cancelled

Annual soccer match for area youth may be rescheduled, says directors.

The huge, three-day Marlboro Soccer Tournament, set to begin tonight and carry through the weekend, was cancelled on Friday night.

A notice on the tournament website from organizers Michele Lewis and Jeff Cooper said, "Based on the forecast and the state’s recent announcement of road closings, evacuations and concerns about the safety of all involved, we regretfully have decided to cancel this weekend’s Marlboro Soccer Tournament.  We are pursuing alternative dates to possibly reschedule the tournament. If no viable option can be found, we will begin the refund process. Thank you for your patience."

The tournament is the largest fundraiser for the organization. Funds benefit the Marlboro Soccer Booster Association teams from ages eight to 16.
