Marlboro Township Volunteer Firefighter Wrote Checks to Himself, He Admits
He was a volunteer firefighter and treasurer of the Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company.

Marlboro Township, NJ - A volunteer firefighter in Marlboro Township pleaded guilty Monday to stealing more than $60,000 when he served as treasurer of the Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company in Marlboro.
The theft took place over a period of approximately six years, said Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni. Chester A. Jameson, 52, an Old Bridge resident, admitted that between August 2009 and January 2015, he wrote more than 100 checks to himself, as well as checks payable to “cash,” totaling more than $60,000.
Jameson was a volunteer firefighter and treasurer of the Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company.

He pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree theft by deception. As part of the plea deal, the state will recommend Jameson be sentenced to three years in state prison. Because he was a public official, Jameson will be required to serve two years in prison before being eligible for parole. He has also been ordered to forfeit his position with the fire company and will be prohibited from holding any public office in the future. He was also ordered to forfeit his pension and must pay $60,000 in restitution.
He lives on Pinetree Boulevard in Old Bridge.
