Monmouth County Parks Honors Its Volunteers
The Park System honored 119 volunteers who each gave 40 or more hours, and 57 volunteers who gave more than 100 hours.
COLTS NECK, NJ — Last Sunday, March 1, the Monmouth County Park System held its annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony at Hominy Hill Golf Course in Colts Neck. During the event, Park System staff honored 119 local Monmouth County residents and volunteers who each gave 40 or more hours, and 57 volunteers who gave more than 100 hours.
The ceremony also gave the Park System the opportunity to recognize volunteers who hit lifetime milestones in their service: Barbara Carroll, Barbara Duggan, Mandy Hintlemann, Catherine Merker, Richie Merker, Frank Nofi and Betty Randall each gave 1,000 hours while Loma Gault reached the 2,000 hour milestone and Jim Gault reached 3,000 hours. Gerry Lingner celebrated crossing the 4,000 hours mark.
On any given day, volunteers can be found throughout the Monmouth County parks lending a hand where needed. Volunteers help with programs, act as historic interpreters, and assist with trail maintenance. Docent volunteers welcome visitors and share information about exhibits, programs and facilities. They are also an essential part of the Park System’s therapeutic riding programs.

Many special events and races such as the Wind & Sea Festival, Thompson Park Day and the E. Murray Todd Half Marathon depend on volunteers to run smoothly. The Park System is grateful to each and every one of its volunteers for their service.
