NJ Man Dies Following 5-Vehicle Crash In Colts Neck, Police Say

The crash occurred on Monday afternoon when police said a pickup truck failed to maintain lane and crossed the yellow center line.

COLTS NECK, NJ — A 67-year-old man has died following a five-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon, Colts Neck Police said.

On Monday at 1:51 pm, Colts Neck Police responded to Route 34 and Trump National Blvd. for a five-vehicle crash with reported injuries.

Once officers arrived at the scene of the crash, a 67-year-old man from Colts Neck was found to be the operator of a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck, police said.

The driver of the pickup truck sustained severe injuries and was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by Colts Neck First Aid, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver's identity has not been released by authorities. According to police, all other injuries were minor.

Following the crash on Monday afternoon, Route 34 was closed in both directions between Route 537 and Route 18.

The road reopened around 8 p.m. on Monday.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the pickup truck failed to maintain lane, crossed the yellow center line, and struck the additional involved vehicles, police said.

This incident is under investigation by Patrolman Tomaio of the Colts Neck Township Traffic Safety Bureau.
