No Charges Filed Yet in Rt. 9 'Hit-and-Run' Death

A Jackson man was found at his home and questioned by police in the Rt. 9 alleged hit and run. But no charges have been filed yet.

Manalapan, NJ - There are still no charges filed in the alleged hit-and-run death of an 83-year-old Manalapan woman last week.

Corrine Becker, 83, was struck by a car Tuesday, Dec. 9 as she crossed busy Rt. 9 at 11:30 p.m. There is a bus stop near where she was hit, at Gordons Corner Road.

The driver fled the scene, Manalapan police said. Township police later apprehended a Jackson man, 42, at his home and brought him in for questioning in the incident, police said. However, no charges have been filed as of Monday, Dec. 14, police said.

“(He) has not been charged yet. We will continue to update as we progress through the investigation,” Deputy Chief Michael Fountain of the Manalapan police told Patch on Monday.
