N.Y. Sports Agent With Home In Marlboro Accused Of Not Paying Nanny Minimum Wage, Reports Say

A 53-year-old Queens, N.Y. woman has accused sports agent David Sugarman of not paying her minimum wage to care for his daughter and homes.

A 53-year-old Queens, N.Y. woman has accused sports agent David Sugarman of not paying her minimum wage to care for his 19-month-old daughter as well as his Manhattan condo and a “palatial” home in Marlboro.

Radha Lutchman said Sugarman, who recently joined Fugees founder Pras Michel and two others on a $2.2 billion bid for The Plaza hotel located in Manhattan, paid her $500 “off the books” for the 65 hours she claims to have worked per week, according to scallywagandvagabond.com.

That would come out to about $7.69 an hour, which fails to meet New York’s $8.75 minimum wage requirement and the $8.38 hourly wage required in New Jersey.

Lutchman said she started to worked for Sugarman and his wife Shelly in September, but left in mid-December when she fell walking the couple’s dog near their Manhattan condo, fracturing her shoulder, according to nj.com.

Sugarman called the lawsuit “frivolous” and told The NY Post that Lutchman’s salary was set by the employment company which she was hired through - he also said he has been ”more than willing to pay” the amount owed in over-time.

“The problem is she never even gave us a dollar amount, and there were no witnesses to her fall … so it really feels like a shakedown attempt,” Sugarman told The NY Post.
