Obituary: Mary Jane Horchler, 92 of Morganville

Mary Jane Horchler, 92 of Morganville, died on Friday.

Mary Jane (Fuhrer) Horchler, of Morganville, NJ died the morning of Sept. 30, at CareOne at Holmdel, NJ. Born August 1, 1919 in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of Walter B. Fuhrer and Mary Jane Maxwell Fuhrer.

On June 7, 1952, she married Raymond K. Horchler at the Concord Presbyterian Church in Butler County, PA. Originally living in New Castle, PA, work related moves had them living in Rochester, NY, Ellicott City, MD, Little Silver, NJ, and Barberton, OH before retiring to Lincroft, NJ and later to Morganville. NJ. While residing in Little Silver, the family enjoyed membership in the Tower Hill Presbyterian Church where Mary taught Sunday school.

She was a graduate of Grove City College in 1941. As a registered nurse, she went on to teach student nursing while working at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She later worked in hospitals in Rochester, NJ and Long Branch, NJ. She was an accomplished china painter, Boy Scout leader, volunteer substitute teacher, enjoyed playing bridge, and was the proprietor of an antiques store while living in Little Silver.

She is survived by a son Daniel W. Horchler, his wife Xinxin Wang and daughter Maylin Horchler; a daughter Mary Jane Happy and son-in-law Lawrence P. Happy, Jr; brother-in-law Russell Horchler and his wife Betty; brother-in-law Robert Horchler and his wife Carolyn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary is predeceased by her parents, her husband (deceased Sept. 28, 2009) and a son, Raymond Keith Horchler, Jr. (deceased Nov. 20, 1995).

A private family service and burial in Concord Presbyterian Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the R.
