Resume tip: Emphasizing your achievements and what you might accomplish in the next few months or years will also draw attention away from a severely lacking professional history. You can easily do this by pairing previous internships, volunteer stints and odd jobs with power words such as:
· Volunteered at XYZ.
- Mentored (much better word than tutored) children at XYZ subjects. (This shows your ability to train others and manage responsibilities.)
- Researched / authored / contributed / analyzed + name of thesis or paper.
- Implemented or simplified + any new idea you suggested that was rolled out by a former employer
