Robert Wendel, 92, Dies

Wendel lived in Marlboro since 1958.

Robert O. Wendel, 92, of Marlboro, passed away on Wednesday,
Nov. 23 at home with his loving family. Born in Yonkers,
NY, he has lived in Marlboro since 1958. He was a communicant of St.
Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. Bob was a proud U.S. Navy
Seabee veteran, serving in the 123rd Naval Construction Battalion during
World War II in Midway and the Philippines. He was the third president of
Marlboro Little League in 1969.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jane Ann, in 2004. He is survived by
his four sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas of Marlboro, Edward and
Ruth of Point Pleasant, Peter of New Egypt, and Robert and Donna of St.
Augustine, FL; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, Nov. 28, from 4 to
8 p.m., at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at
St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, Route 520, Marlboro. Interment will follow at
St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
