The Ross Licitra "Shy Baby" controversy showcases how unfit for office Commissioner Ross Licitra is

In August 2024, Monmouth County Republican Commissioner, and head of the Monmouth County SPCA, Ross Licitra became the center of a major scandal involving leaked audio recordings from the Monmouth County SPCA. Licitra was recorded berating an hourly employee who questioned the euthanasia of a dog named "Shy Baby." He told the worker, "You’re nothing. You’re a nobody. You have zero right to question anything."

A second employee came forward alleging that Licitra made violent threats during a staff meeting, reportedly saying that when people are rude to his managers, it makes him want to "reach over the desk and cut their throat and watch them bleed out on the floor." Even his fellow Republican Commissioners issued a statement distancing themselves, calling his language "inappropriate" and saying they "do not condone his actions."

Luckily for us who care about democracy, decency, and accountability, Ross Licitra is up for re-election this year, alongside another Republican Commissioner, as well as the Republican county surrogate. Monmouth, it's time to make the right choice. Enough with these self entitled whiny men children posing as public servants, it's time for a change.
