Dorbrook is one of Monmouth County's main sites for summer day camps, and many of the campers who go there have special needs. When the county park system heard there was a barricaded man near the park, they immediately shut down Dorbrook and directed all campers and counselors to turn around and go home.

"My 62-year-old aunt is special needs and she goes to that park. EZ Ride picked her up this morning from where she lives with my mother in Middletown," said Tammy DeDonno, a former Monmouth County resident. "She has the mentality of about a 5-year-old, so when we heard EZ Ride was directed to turn around, my mom was understandably freaking out. But EZ ride took her home. She's safe and sound now."

A park spokeswoman confirmed to Patch that all the campers and counselors are accounted for.

"Dorbrook closed early this morning prior to camp time so there are no campers at the park. A few staff remain at the park but most have been relocated to other parks," said Karen Livingstone, a spokeswoman for Monmouth County parks.

All programs and camps at Dorbrook are cancelled at least through noon today, the Monmouth County Parks Department said in an emergency alert.
