The Federal tax credits for energy- efficient home improvements for window treatments are back. The Protecting Americans form Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015, which gave federal tax credits on select energy- efficient products, have been brought back in 2016.

Products must be purchased between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2016, and must be installed by December 31, 2016. This credit is for existing homes only and not intended for new construction. For specific details and restrictions, refer to the Manufacturer’s Certification Statements for each product at www.hunterdouglas.com/taxcredit. Qualifying products are eligible for a tax credit of 10% of the cost, up to $500 in total during the 2016 tax year. $500 is the maximum combined total amount that can be claimed for all purchases of qualifying energy-efficient products placed in service during this period. This is subject to reduction in the amount of Section 25C tax credits taken in prior years. The tax credit for your qualifying Hunter Douglas product is 10% of the purchase price of the product only (excluding sales tax and measuring and installation charges), up to $500. The tax credit is subject to a lifetime limitation of $500.
