Tattoos Lead Feds To Charge Englishtown Man With Child Porn

ENGLISHTOWN, NJ — Federal authorities say a 24-year-old Englishtown man produced homemade child porn videos out of his home, and they were able to identify him by several unique tattoos agents saw in the videos, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpentino announced Thursday.

Christian Importuna, 24, of Englishtown, is charged with one count of production of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.

Importuna was arrested at his home Thursday morning by special agents of the FBI.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, he had to make his initial appearance Thursday by telephone conference before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy Waldor.

FBI agents say that Importuna produced at least two videos that showed him sexually assaulting a child, a young girl between the ages of 5 and 8.

On Tuesday of this week, Importuna attempted to trade images of child pornography with an undercover FBI agent online, the U.S. Attorney's office said. According to the criminal complaintImportuna asked the undercover agent if he wanted to trade "CP," referring to child pornography. During the conversation, Importuna also explained that he had "homemade" images of child pornography, police say.

According to the complaint, he sent the first video, which was approximately 18 seconds long, and depicts a girl who appears to be 5-8 years old performing oral sex on an adult man. The man can be heard giving the girl instructions and commands, the FBI said.

In that video, several visible tattoos are distinct on the man's left hand, said the FBI.

In the second video, a man molests a young girl while she is sleeping, according to the complaint.

"There is a tattoo of what appears to be the Monopoly man, and several other distinct markings, on the adult male's right forearm," read the complaint.

Law enforcement initially linked the videos to Importuna through business records indicating that they were sent from his Englishtown home.

"The investigation further linked Importuna to the production of the images through physical identifiers that were visible in the subject videos," read the complaint.
