Tennent Road Closure Begins At 9 P.M. Friday For Drain Repairs

MARLBORO, N.J.— Parts of Tennent Road will be closed tonight for maintenance and stormwater drain repairs, New Jersey Department of Transportation officials said today.

Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Friday, June 10, until 6 a.m. Saturday, June 11, NJDOT’s contractor, IEW Construction Group, is scheduled to close and detour Tennent Road in both directions between the driveway for Garden State Community Bank and Route 79 to place a drainage pipe.

In addition, the right turning lane from Route 79 southbound to Tennent Road will be closed. The following detours will be in place:

Car Detour:

Tennent Road northbound detour:

• Motorists on Tennent Road northbound wishing to access Route 79 will be directed to turn left into the first entrance to the Garden State Community Bank parking lot.
• Turn right in the parking lot.
• Exit the driveway onto Route 79.

Route 79 southbound to Tennent Road southbound detour:

• Motorists on Route 79 southbound wishing to access Tennent Road southbound will be directed to turn right into the Morganville Square shopping mall driveway.
• Follow the driveway past Garden State Community Bank.
• Turn right onto Tennent Road/CR 3 southbound.

Route 79 northbound to Tennent Road southbound detour:

• Motorists on Route 79 northbound wishing to access Tennent Road southbound will be directed to turn left into the Morganville Square shopping mall driveway.
• Follow the driveway past Garden State Community Bank.
• Turn right onto Tennent Road southbound.

Truck Detour:

Tennent Road northbound detour:

• Trucks on Tennent Road northbound wishing to access Route 79 will be directed to turn right onto Newman Springs Road (Route 520), which is near the Route 18 intersection
• Stay left to continue on Newman Springs Road.
• Turn left onto Route 79 northbound.

Tennent Road southbound detour:

• Trucks on Route 79 wishing to access Tennent Road will be directed to turn onto Newman Springs Road (Route 520).
• Stay left to continue on Newman Springs Road, which intersects with Tennent Road.

The work is part of a $6.1 million state-funded maintenance contract to repair stormwater facilities and manholes at various locations in seven counties throughout Central Jersey. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
