Thunderstorms Knock Out Marlboro Traffic Lights
The Rt. 79 and Lloyd Road is currently out.

Severe thunderstorms are ripping through Marlboro, knocking out the traffic light at Rt. 79 and Lloyd Road and interrupting police communications.
Police are currently directing traffic at the intersection, and will place temporary stop signs in the area until power can be restored to the light.
Police are also reporting extreme flooding in many areas, including the areas of Nolan Road. The department communications briefly went down, forcing police to switch frequencies.

Marlboro fire departments are currently responding to at least two fire calls in the area at one time, the causes of which are unknown.
Monmouth County is under a severe thunderstorm warning from the National Weather Service as of 8:05 a.m. today.

A line of severe storms are moving through the area, with winds in excess of 60 miles per hour as the storm moves northeast. Thunderstorms are expected through 2 p.m.
Large hail is possible in some areas, with frequent lightning hitting the ground. Be aware of flooding in the area, and residents are advised to take caution if driving is necessary.
