"Tis the season... for Red Lips"

Can YOU pull off red lipstick?  Too many women think they can't, but almost anyone can with all the varieties and colors of lipsticks and lip glosses available today.

First off, if you are weary of trying a bright red lipstick, you can opt for a lipgloss that’s sheer, so you just have a hint of subtle red color.  Or choose more of a wine, cranberry color, and not a true red (reds tend to have a “blue” hue that might not be right for your coloring.)

But, whatever lipstick you choose, remember to follow these simple steps to have longer-lasting color.

#1 Exfoliate your lips (I use my HTC sugar scrub, or any brand you choose, or you can even gently sluff away dead skin with a soft toothbrush)

#2 Moisturize your lips (I use my HTC Lip Plumper (plumps, smoothes and hydrates) but, you can choose any lip moisturizer/balm of your choice. This will soften lips for better application.

#3 Prime your lips (preferably with a lip primer, if you don’t have one, just use your concealer or a little of your foundation (this will help matte out your lips for a truer color of lipstick and help prevent bleeding of color)

#4 Line your lips with the correct red lip liner, but also fill in your lips with the liner (will help lipstick to stay on longer)

One more tip… with bold red lips, you want to have a soft eye (I suggest soft taupes, golds, browns.)   The “Rule of thumb” or shall I say “Makeup” is… dramatic lips = soft eye or dramatic eyes = soft lips!

Wear your red lips with confidence!!!  Happy Holidays!!
