Victim In Marlboro Car Crash Now In Stable Condition: Police

Police identify the man injured Friday in a Route 18 crash as Vincent Gentile of Aberdeen.

MARLBORO, NJ — The driver of a crash Friday on Route 18 here has been identified as Vincent Gentile of Aberdeen, police confirmed Monday.

Police said Gentile is still in the hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune and is in stable condition. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The 35-year-old Gentile was driving a pickup truck on Route 18 north Friday when his truck left the road and collided with a tree, police said.

He had to be extricated by firefighters from the white Chevy pickup, Capt. Stephen J. Levy said Friday.

He was flown by Medivac helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment. He was the only occupant of the truck and no other cars were involved, Levy said.

Route 18 northbound lanes had to be closed in the area for four hours on Friday morning.
