What Zeik Dental has to offer you!

Dental Exam

A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by Dr. Zeik at your initial dental visit.  At regular check-up exams, your dentist and hygienist will include the following:

  • Examination of Digital X-rays: Essential for detection of decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss.  X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions.
  • Oral cancer screening: Check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
  • Gum disease evaluation: Check the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.
  • Examination of tooth decay: All tooth surfaces will be checked for decay with special dental instruments.
  • Examination of existing restorations: Check current fillings, crowns, etc.
Professional Dental CleaningYour cleaning appointment will include a dental exam and the following:
  • Removal of calculus (tartar): Calculus is hardened plaque that has been left on the tooth for some time and is now firmly attached to the tooth surface.  Calculus forms above and below the gum line and can only be removed with special dental instruments.
  • Removal of plaque: Plaque is a sticky, almost invisible film that forms on the teeth.  It is a growing colony of living bacteria, food debris, and saliva.  The bacteria produce toxins (poisons) that inflame the gums.  This inflammation is the start of periodontal disease!
  • Teeth polishing: Remove stain and plaque that is not otherwise removed during tooth brushing and scaling.
  • Root Canal Therapy (Endodontics)

Each tooth contains a strand of dental pulp filled with nerves and nutrients. If the dental pulp is damaged or infected, the nerves within a tooth die. These nerves must be removed in order to save the tooth. Also referred to as a endodontic treatment root canal, root canal therapy involves the removal of the diseased dental pulp, filling the hollow pulp chamber of the tooth, and sealing the treated tooth with a protective crown. Back to Top
  • Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Wisdom Teeth, also known as third molars, are usually the last four of 32 teeth to erupt (surface) in the mouth. While not all wisdom teeth require removal, wisdom teeth extractions are most often performed because of an active problem or potential future problems. At our office we focus on quick and painless removal, therefore we take all necessary steps to assure you are relaxed and comfortable throughout the entire procedure. Post-operative instructions and medication (if necessary), will be provided to help manage any swelling or discomfort. Back to Top

Periodontal disease (gum disease) is caused by bacteria. If your gums feel tender, look red and swollen or bleed every time you floss, you could be at risk. Untreated gum disease has been linked to an increased risk of heart attack and stroke, so it’s important to keep up with your biannual dental checkups and cleanings. Appropriate treatment can slow or stop the progression of gum disease. Since there are different stages of gum disease (from gingivitis to advanced periodontitis), there are different levels of treatment. We specialize in non-surgical treatment of gum disease which is highly effective for early to moderate periodontal problems. While surgery is sometimes still the best option, we can now treat many cases with less invasive techniques such as local antibiotics, deep cleanings, medicated rinses and laser treatment.Zoom!® is a professional teeth whitening treatment that gets your teeth an average of eight shades whiter — in just one hour. The treatment is safe, simple, and relaxing! Plus, Zoom! is championed by dentists and patients as a pain-free process.

Laser therapy in dentistry provides patients with a more comfortable dental treatment experience. Using laser dentistry, your dentist is able to deliver a precise treatment that is more comfortable, quicker, and provides more stunning results.

Benefits of laser therapyThere are several benefits to receiving a laser therapy dental treatment.
    • Many laser treatments do not require anesthesia, and the recovery time is much quicker than with traditional treatment methods.
    • Treatments are more comfortable.
    • There is potentially less of a chance of bacterial infection because laser treatments are so precise.
    Two types of laser dentistry

There are two different types of laser dentistry: hard tissue and soft tissue.

Hard tissue includes treatments such as cavity detection, dental fillings, and tooth sensitivity improvements.

Soft tissue treatments include gum reshaping, gum surgery, and muscle attachment improvements.

Procedures such as removing benign oral tumors, regenerating nerves, overcoming sleep apnea, whitening teeth, and treating TMD are also considered laser dentistry treatments.

    Have you considered Sedation Dentistry?

All too frequently, a planned visit to the dentist is considered with a degree of dread and hesitation. This is referred to as dental anxiety. Dr. Zeik, understands the fear some people feel in the dentist chair and he takes special care to assist these patients to achieve their most beautiful, natural and youthful appearance. Through the use of Sedation Dentistry, Dr. Zeik is able to offer patients an anxiety free experience dental experience as the patient is in a deeply relaxed state, though fully responsive. It also means something more: a comfortable experience – often with no recollection of the time passed. As a trained dentist, Dr. Zeik can provide sedation dentistry whether for a small or a larger procedure be it cosmetic or restorative.

    Levels of Sedation Dentistry

    Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide is a very light form of sedation that is administered by inhalation. It takes effect rather quickly and wears off just a quickly. It may be sufficient for some people, but not for the vast majority of fearful patients. It is best used for short visits when minor procedures are completed.

    Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral Conscious Sedation is for patients who need more than just a nitrous oxide to be comfortably sedated. It works quite well for busy people who want everything done as quickly as possible. It is administered with oral medications, and taken an hour before the appointment. Most patients are relaxed before their treatment begins.

Please contact our practice to schedule a consultation, learn more about sedation dentistry, and find out which sedation dentistry method may be right for you.

Normally, restorations such as crowns are created in an off-site lab. As a result patients must wear a temporary crown for a few weeks (which we hope will stay on) and return for a second appointment (where we may have to numb you) after the permanent crown has been completed for a final fitting.  CEREC crowns offer same-day solutions for your busy life. In about an hour, Dr. Zeik can transform your smile with a durable, natural-looking crown with far less hassle than you would ever have imagined possible!

    What is CEREC?

CEREC is a technology for restoring damaged teeth, and this restoration can be completed in a single visit to the doctor's office. It makes your teeth stronger and more beautiful, all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free, and the high-grade ceramic material is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

    The CEREC Process

During your appointment, you and your doctor will discuss the details of the procedure and your doctor will answer any questions you may have. Your doctor will then apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special 3D imaging camera to take a photo of your tooth. Using CEREC's proprietary software, your restoration will be designed according to your tooth's appropriate form and function. Then, CEREC will use diamond burs to create your restoration out of a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

    Why Choose CEREC?

There are many advantages of using CEREC over traditional crown technology.

Time: CEREC crowns are made in one visit, saving you considerable time away from your job and family.

Comfort: With CEREC, there is no need for a temporary crown, eliminating significant potential discomfort.

Aesthetics: The strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials of CEREC restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function, and closely match the composition of your natural tooth structure.

Strength: Milled ceramic is stronger than the traditional method of layering and pressing, so your smile will stay beautiful for years!

Fillings: CEREC material and technology can also be used for fillings. Since these fillings are made out of porcelain, they are more durable than white composite fillings.
