5% Day at Whole Foods Market Marlboro and Whole Foods Market Middletown on June 28 raised funds for Kateri Day Camp

Collier Youth Services, a non-profit organization that empowers at-risk youth to grow toward their potential in an environment of belonging, dignity, and hope, is proud to announce that Whole Foods Market Monmouth County is donating $8,451.09 to Collier for Kateri Day Camp. This amount results from a 5% Community Giving Day at Whole Foods Market Marlboro and Whole Foods Market Middletown on June 28, 2016.
Whole Foods Market Monmouth County, a local leader in natural and organic groceries with locations in Marlboro, Middletown, and Wall, had selected Collier as the recipient of a 5% Community Giving Day. On 5% Days, Whole Foods Market donates five percent of a single day’s net sales to a local non-profit organization.
Located on Collier’s property in Marlboro Township, Kateri Day Camp serves approximately 175 underprivileged children each summer. These children, ages 5-13, journey to Kateri Day Camp from all parts of Monmouth County.

Depending on financial need, all children at Kateri Day Camp are eligible for a full, seven-week, camp scholarship. Collier’s “camperships” (valued at $2,500 per child) cover tuition, on-site activities, off-site field trips, daily swim lessons, healthy meals, books, and round-trip transportation for Monmouth County youth growing up in severe poverty. Kateri Day Camp proudly celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2016.
According to Russell Gartz, Director of External Relations at Collier Youth Services, “Collier is thrilled that Whole Foods Market Monmouth County has donated the net sales from a 5% Day to Kateri Day Camp. This summer, underprivileged children from 25 Monmouth County towns have been making new friends, learning to swim, improving their reading, and having fun at Kateri Day Camp. Collier commits to approximately $450,000 in camperships and serves more than 12,000 meals each summer. Whole Foods’ investment in Kateri Day Camp will have a significant, positive impact on the local children who have been having the time of their lives at our camp.”
