Woman Bites Cop's Hand Twice During Black Friday Shopping: Police

A woman at the Jackson Premium Outlets bit an officer's hand twice after he tried to give her a parking ticket, police allege.

A woman Black Friday shopping at the Jackson Premium Outlets bit a police officer’s hand not once, but twice after he tried to give her a parking ticket, Jackson Township police announced Wednesday.

The 40-year-old Hamilton woman bit the officer after he tried to write her a ticket for illegally parking in the exit lane during crowded Black Friday shopping, police allege.

Jackson police were patrolling the Jackson Premium Outlets that day because they knew the area would be inundated, police said. Sure enough, by 2:30 p.m., the parking lot was filled to capacity and drivers were having difficulty exiting onto Rt. 537, because some cars were parked in the exit lane. One of them was a 1999 Toyota Corolla, illegally parked and blocking traffic, police said.

When the driver of that car, Elmita Jeremie, returned to her vehicle, Jackson Police Sgt. Wayne Olejarz advised he was going to write her a summons. But instead of handing over her license and registration, Jeremie, a Hamilton, N.J. resident, got in the Toyota and tried to drive off. But she got stuck in the traffic jam, police said.

As the sergeant stopped her and spoke with her again, she again refused to comply and attempted to pull away a second time, Jackson police said. Olejarz ordered her to pull off the road, but she instead tried to make a K-turn in the middle of traffic, trying to leave yet a third time. This time, Olejarz reached into the car to put it in park and Jeremie bit him on the left hand, police say.

A struggle ensued; Olejarz removed Jeremie from the car, and she bit him a second time on his right hand, he said.

Jeremie was taken into custody, and charged with obstruction, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on a police officer. She was released on a summons pending a court appearance.
