Keynote speaker Fulop, who recently placed tenth in NJBiz magazine’s Power 100 Ranking, was elected Mayor of Jersey City in 2013. Like many kids of small business owners, the Edison native worked alongside his father at the family’s Newark delicatessen. Following graduation from Binghamton University in 1999, he began his career at Goldman Sachs and ultimately bought a home in Jersey City. After witnessing the September 11 attacks, he left Goldman to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served as a member of the 6th Engineer Support Battalion and was deployed to Iraq. Fulop and his unit were awarded the Overseas Service Ribbon, Meritorious Masts, and the Presidential Unit Citation. Upon returning home, he launched a career in public service, becoming president of both the Historic Paulus Hook Association and the Downtown Coaliton of Neighborhood Associations. At the age of 28, he was elected to the Jersey City Council in 2005. During his first term, Fulop went back to school to earn a Master’s in Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a Master’s in Pubic Administration from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
