ABERDEEN TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The township’s annual Easter Egg Hunt will look a little different this year. Even though the original hunt has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Aberdeen’s Mayor and Township Council wants to keep the tradition and spirit alive for its youngest residents by launching an alternative Easter Egg Hunt.

On Wednesday, April 8, township officials will be hiding Easter eggs on the front lawns of houses with children up to eight years old. All eggs will be handled with gloves for the health and safety of all residents.

The “Easter Bunny” will be delivering the eggs that day between 1 and 4 p.m. Children are asked to wait until after 5 p.m. to search for their eggs, in order to give the Easter Bunny a chance to hide them.

Parents must register their household by this Saturday, April 4, by calling Brittany Shea at (732) 583-4200, ext. 130 or Patty Geyer at (732) 583-4200, ext. 129. Residents can also email them at brittany.shea@aberdeennj.org or patricia.geyer@aberdeennj.org.

Participating families must provide their address and how many children are in their household, along with basic contact information in case the township has additional questions.

“We are hoping that this alternative Easter egg hunt helps to bring joy to our children’s faces during this difficult time,” said Public Information Officer Brittany Shea.
