Aberdeen Launches Winter Events For Families, Children And Adults
The Aberdeen Recreation Department announced a variety of programs for December, January and February:
ABERDEEN, NJ — This week, the Aberdeen Recreation Department announced a variety of programs for December, January and February, offering wintertime fun for the whole family.
The department is also introducing a new online registration system, making signing up for programs as easy as pushing a button.
“Our department is excited about this new online registration format because it will give residents direct access to the programs right at home,” said Recreation Director Keith Heckman. “There are some great programs coming up and we encourage residents to come out and take part in these community celebrations.”

Some highlights from the winter lineup include the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 1 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Town Hall, 1 Aberdeen Square. The celebration will be an evening filled with fun activities such as Clydesdale horse wagon rides, a bounce house, an ice sculpture artist display and ornament decorating.
Dec. 15 is National Cupcake Day and Aberdeen will be celebrating with a Children's Holiday Cupcake Decoration Celebration at the Hudson Ridge Senior Center on Church Street, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. for ages 6-12, and 6:45 - 8:15 p.m. for ages 13-18. Cost of the program includes six cupcakes that your child will be able to decorate with assorted frostings, sprinkles and other toppings.

At the end of December, the Children’s Winter Break Day Camp will take place from Dec. 27 to Dec. 30. The programming is open to kids ages 6-12 years old and will be held at the Fiorendo Sigismondi Community Center on Prospect Avenue in Cliffwood Beach.
A bus trip to "Disney on Ice" at the Prudential Center is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 15. This season’s "Let’s Celebrate" show features more than 50 Disney characters.
This will be followed by Paint and Snack at the Sigismondi Community Center on Jan. 21 at 6 p.m., a great way to meet new people or explore new things with your existing friends. For ages 18 and up.
February features an Ice Cream Social on Feb. 6 at the Sigismondi Community Center. Stay in your pajamas and bring the family to create your ice cream and waffle sundae. There will be a movie screening as well as an activity for children, starting at 9 a.m.
There will also be a Mother- Son Carnival Dance on Feb. 17 at the Sigismondi Community Center. Sons are invited to bring their mom or any adult female guest to dress up and dance the night away with them.
