Aberdeen Man Chases Car Burglar, Holds Him in Driveway Until Police Arrive

The 19-year-old broke into three cars in the Fordham Park section of the township this week, police said.

Aberdeen, NJ - A Fawn Place resident chased down someone trying to break into his car, grabbed him and held him in his driveway until police arrived at the scene Tuesday night, police said.

The suspect, Michael Grillo, a 19-year-old local Aberdeen man, was arrested and charged with two more car burglaries in the area that night, Aberdeen police told Patch.

The incident happened at approximately 11:25 p.m. Tuesday. The Fawn Place resident called 911, reporting that he saw someone trying to break into his car.

When police arrived, they found that the resident had chased Grillo, grabbed him and was holding him in his driveway. When he was arrested, Grillo was allegedly in possession of the proceeds of two earlier burglaries, one from a vehicle on Fawn Place and another from a car on Fordham Drive earlier that night, police said. In total, Grillo was charged with breaking into three cars.

Grillo, of Lloyd Road in Aberdeen, was taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in default of $15,000 bail with no 10% option.
