Aberdeen Man Killed Fleeing Suspected Burglary, Cops Say
An Aberdeen man who was suspected of fleeing from a residential burglary in Old Bridge died Tuesday morning after getting into a car crash.
OLD BRIDGE, NJ — An Aberdeen man who was suspected of fleeing from a residential burglary in Old Bridge died Tuesday morning after getting into a car crash while fleeing the burglary scene, according to the Middlesex County prosecutor's office.
Dwayne Melvin, 47, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he was pronounced dead from the injuries he sustained from the crash.
Police say that Melvin was driving a Mercedes, traveling west on Rt. 516 in an excessive speed. He then crossed over the double yellow lines and crashed head on into an oncoming Ford F350 pick-up near Sherwood Lane in Old Bridge. This occurred at 9:02 a.m. Tuesday, July 2.

The driver of the truck and its two passengers were transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police would only allege that Melvin was fleeing from a residential burglary and an attempted burglary in Old Bridge Twp., and did not say where that occurred.
