Aberdeen May Amend Noise Regulations

An ordinance introduced Tuesday would address residential noise

The Aberdeen Township Council introduced an ordinance amending the section 3-1 of the revised general ordinances, which concerns noise regulations at their workshop evening Tuesday, July 19.

According to Mayor Fred Tagliarini, the current noise regulations only clearly address commercial noise, such as commercial landscaping, construction or demolition. The amendment would clarify noise regulations for residential noise.

If the ordinance is passed, noise regulations would be amended to prohibit, "the carrying on of excavation, demolition, construction, repair or alteration work by anyone on Saturday and Sunday, other than between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.," the ordinance states.

It would also prohibit, "the carrying on of lawn mowing, grass trimming, leaf blowing, or any landscaping work that requires the use of motorized equipment other than between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday and the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday."

The ordinance will be considered further at the next council meeting, which will be at 7 p.m. on August 2 in the Aberdeen Township Municipal Building. All residents are welcome to attend.
