Aberdeen Named To NJ Top-100 Safest Cities List

Aberdeen placed 85th in the National Council for Home Safety and Security's annual rankings of the Top-100 Safest Cities to Live in NJ.

Aberdeen Township ranked 85th in the National Council for Home Safety and Security’s annual rankings of the Top-100 Safest Cities to Live in New Jersey.

The Council--a national trade association comprised of licensed alarm installers, contractors, and other relevant trade groups across the United States--compiles the rankings for all 50 states by reviewing the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics along with its own population data and internal research.

Rankings were based on the number of reported violent crimes and property crimes per 1,000 people. Cities that failed to submit a complete crime report to the FBI and those with populations under 10,000 were not considered.

“I am proud of Chief John Powers and the fine men and women of the Aberdeen Township Police Department, who continue to keep our town safe,” said Mayor Fred Tagliarini. “The Top-100 designation testifies to the hard work of our police department as well as efforts by our residents to cooperate with the department and follow its suggestions to keep crime in check.”

"Keeping the town safe is also a partnership between law enforcement and our hard-working citizen-volunteers from Aberdeen-Matawan CERT and Aberdeen Community Watch,” adds Councilman Greg Cannon. “We are proud and thankful for their 24/7 service.”

“Congratulations on a job well done to all the towns who made the list of 100 safest cities in New Jersey and their Police Departments,” said Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden. “Maintaining public safety for our families to grow and our businesses to thrive is the most important function of government on all levels.”

Aberdeen was joined on the list by Monmouth County towns: Colts Neck, Hazlet, Holmdel, Howell, Manalapan, Marlboro, Middletown and Wall.
