Aberdeen Police Blotter, Oct. 10 - Oct. 16

Released by Aberdeen Twp. police and unedited by Patch, Aberdeen Township police made the following arrests October 10 through October 16:

ABERDEEN, NJ — Released by Aberdeen Twp. police and unedited by Patch, Aberdeen Township police made the following arrests October 10 through October 16, 2018:

  • A 39-year-old Aberdeen woman was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, improper turn, and driving an uninsured vehicle following a motor stop on Hwy. 35 on October 10. P.O. Michael Monteiro was the arresting officer with assistance from P.O. Jessica McDougall.
  • P.O. Jessica McDougall arrested a 25-year-old Matawan man on a contempt warrant out of Keyport municipal court on October 10.
  • Two men, ages 52 and 58, were charged with assault following an incident at a Rose St. residence on October 13. P.O. Edgar Serrano and Det. Louis Nanna were the arresting officers. P.O. Matthew McDow also investigated.
  • A 61-year-old Aberdeen woman was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, and driving without headlights following a motor stop on South Atlantic Ave. on October 13. P.O. Ronald Osadacz was the arresting officer.
  • Jose L. Williams, 43, Newark, was charged with the burglary of a vehicle parked on Amboy Ave. on October 14. Officers responded to the area on a report of a car burglary in progress. Upon arrival the victim reported that she and her husband heard their car alarm sounding and, when they went to investigate, they found a subject later identified as Mr. Williams inside their vehicle. When he was confronted, he fled into a marshy area adjacent to the property. P.O.s Hank Chevalier and Martin Walsh went to a marina on Hwy. 35 and apprehended Mr. Williams when he emerged from the marsh.

Other police activity during that period included:

  • On October 10 a Matawan Ave. resident reported he received a call from a person claiming to be a government official from Maryland stating that the resident’s vehicle was involved in drug activity and had been abandoned. The caller said that, in order to avoid arrest, the victim was to purchase a Google Play card and give the caller the number over the phone. P.O. Jessica McDougall took the report.
  • On October 13 a resident of Line Road reported the theft of her 2018 Mercedes Benz E40. The vehicle was parked in the driveway and was possibly left unlocked with the key fob inside. A home surveillance video showed a male subject wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt taking the vehicle at approximately 3:50 AM. The vehicle was subsequently recovered in Newark. P.O. William Novak took the report.

Officers responded to or initiated 317 calls for service between October 10 and October 16, 2018, including 10 suspicious persons/vehicles; 23 alarms; 18 first aid calls; four domestic violence incidents, one burglary, one theft, one motor vehicle theft, three criminal mischief incidents, two disorderly persons, one fraud, nine motor vehicle crashes, two crisis intervention calls, and 84 motor vehicle stops. Officers issued 71 summonses.
