SAYREVILLE, NJ — A woman was killed in a three-car crash involving a Tesla, a Nissan and a Chrysler minivan late Saturday night on the Garden State Parkway northbound in Sayreville, according to NJ State Police.
The crash occurred at 12:46 a.m. Sunday: A Chrysler minivan was stopped and pulled over on the right shoulder of the Parkway north.
A 58-year-old Brooklyn woman, Esther Paz, was driving a Nissan passenger car north on the Parkway, when her car was rear-ended by a Telsa 1, also headed north, said police.
The Tesla was driven by Anish Shriram, 21, from Livingston.
After the impact, the Nissan and Tesla entered the right shoulder and struck the right guardrail. The Tesla traveled through the guardrail, entered the grass median and struck a traffic cone.
The Nissan struck the guardrail, overturned and struck the Chrysler. Paz sustained fatal injuries.
The driver of the Tesla sustained no injuries, and the driver of the Chrysler sustained minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available, said State Police Sgt. Jeffrey LeBron.
