Old Bridge Man Charged With Attempted Child Endangerment

The prosecutor said a "self-identified vigilante group interfered with and impeded" this criminal investigation.

Kevin Coposky, 39, of Old Bridge (Middlesex County Prosecutor)

SAYREVILLE, NJ — Kevin Coposky, 39, of Old Bridge, was arrested Wednesday, said the Middlesex County Prosecutor, as a result of an online child exploitation investigation done by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office working with local law enforcement.

Old Bridge Police Department received a tip from a concerned citizen regarding Coposky attempting to meet children online for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity.

An investigation was then launched by Detective Ryan Hall of the Old Bridge Police Department, Detective Christopher Raub of the Sayreville Police Department and Detective Ken McGarry of the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit at the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

As a result of that investigation Coposky was arrested.

He was arrested without incident Wednesday at his home in Old Bridge. Coposky was charged with third-degree Attempt to Endanger the Welfare of a Child.

The county prosecutor also said this:

"A self-identified vigilante group independently contacted the suspect and publicly disseminated information regarding Coposky’s conduct. These actions directly interfered with and impeded a sensitive and ongoing criminal investigation. As a result, investigators were impeded and thus, unable to fully develop and secure critical evidence to pursue the full scope of potential charges. Law enforcement strongly discourages members of the public from engaging in the conduct attempted above. Such conduct can compromise investigations, hinder the pursuit of justice, place the safety of officers in jeopardy, and ultimately detract from law enforcement’s ability to hold offenders fully accountable."
