SAYREVILLE, NJ — Sayreville Police say a father in that town became irate Tuesday morning and tried to assault a school bus driver, after the driver told him his child could not board the bus because it was not their designated bus spot.
What Sayreville Police describe as an "altercation" unfolded at 8:41 a.m. at the intersection of Lakeview and Solook drives.
When police got there, they found the dad, Roshan Howington, standing in front of the yellow school bus, blocking its path. Several children were on the bus.
Police say Howington tried to have his son or daughter get on the bus, but the bus driver would not let the child on because it was not their proper, designated stop.
"When the bus driver denied entry, Mr. Howington reportedly began to shout at the driver and obstructed the bus from proceeding," Sayreville Police said.
He also tried to assault the bus driver through an open window, said Sayreville Police.
Howington, 31, a resident of Sayreville, was placed under arrest and charged with interference with transportation, obstruction of the administration of law and assault.
