• Matawan Man Got Half A Million In Disability Benefits While Skiing In Italian Alps (patch.com) — Matawan residents are learning that local funeral director Steven D. Stankovits is serving a year-and-a-day in federal prison for defrauding the Social Security Administration of more than $585,000 in disability benefits. Prosecutors said that while claiming he could barely sit, bend, or lift, he worked physically demanding jobs and took multiple ski trips, including to Italy and Utah, and must now pay substantial fines, restitution, and forfeiture.
