SAYREVILLE, NJ — A family dog attacked three members of the same family Saturday evening in Sayreville, and police officers shot the dog, killing it, to stop the attack, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera.
This happened shortly after 7 p.m. at a private home on MacArthur Avenue: Sayreville Police received a 911 distress call to respond there at 7:22 p.m.
The caller, a man, reported that his girlfriend, 20, his mother, 53, and his stepfather, 43, were being attacked by their dog.
Upon their arrival, officers shot the dog to prevent further attack. The dog died.
The three family members were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in stable condition where they are being treated for their injuries.
The county prosecutor did not immediately release the breed of dog.
