STATEN ISLAND, NJ — A Sayreville woman was charged with drunk driving in connection with a fatal crash that killed a 66-year-old woman on Staten Island on Oct. 10, according to the New York Post.
The woman who was killed was Duck Park, who came to America from South Korea. She worked as a home health aide at the time of her death.
Nathaly Costa, 21, of Sayreville, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while impaired by alcohol, but another New Jersey woman was criminally charged with causing Park's death.
Shannon Theodore, 36, of Somerset, NJ caused the head-on car collision that killed Park, said police: Police say Theodore was driving a Range Rover Velar the wrong way on the West Shore Expressway on Staten Island (she was head north in the southbound lanes) when she hit Park's Kia Seltos head-on.
This was at 5:35 a.m. Oct. 10.
Both the Range Rover and Kia were then hit by a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Costa.
Only Park was killed in the crash. The two other women survived. Costa had two passengers in her Jeep. She, the two passengers and Theodore were all taken to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition.
Theodore was also driving drunk, allege police. She was charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and refusal to take a breath test, according to the New York Post. Theodore works in New Jersey as an attorney. She pleaded not guilty at her arraignment last week, NJ.com reported.
Park was driving to church at the time she was killed, her husband told media outlets.
